Camila Amancay Chebez is an Argentinian artistic researcher, as well as an avid rock-climber and mate-drinker, currently based in Basel (CH). She graduated with a BA in Graphic Design at the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK) after completing a foundation year at LSA in Edinburgh.
    Departing from the etymological meaning of “leer” (to read) which is “to pick up with the senses” (legere) Camila’s practice examines links between body and land and our primordial relation to the more-than-human.  Her focus on storytelling encompasses political ecologies of extraction, utopian thinking, decolonial aesthesis, everyday rituals, phenomenology and deep time. These themes are explored through experimental films, haptic installations and speculative publications that act as spells for reanimating an Earth too often figured as mute and inert, a wasteland in waiting.
